Bed Bugs Pest Control Manchester and Cheshire

Bedbugs are becoming an increasingly common problem across Manchester and Cheshire and can prove difficult to pot and deal with effectively. The mistake a lot of people make is that bedbugs are only attracted to dirty bedding – in fact they are attracted to body heat and exhaled carbon and therefore can infest any inhabited property regardless of its state of cleanliness. It’s important to spot an infestation as early as possible and to contact Manchester Pest Services as soon as possible to have all the bedbugs eradicated.

If you suspect a bedbug infestation, you need to check the following areas:

  • Bedframes and headboards

  • Mattresses and bedding

  • Chair frames and upholstery

  • Carpets

  • Skirting boards

  • Behind loose wallpaper and mounted pictures

Adult bedbugs are a flattened almond shape about 4-6mm long, with obvious antennae and clawed feet. They are usually reddish-brown in colour but this will change to purple after they have fed. Their unhatched eggs are a pearly white colour and will be opaque until hatched when they will become translucent.

The presence of eggs, egg-cases and the blackish spots of their droppings are clear visual indications of an infestation, however you may also notice an unpleasant almond-like smell generated by their glands. Their bites will cause a hard white swelling which will subside to a dark red spot surrounded by a reddened area of skin – while bedbugs do not carry any diseases, these bites can cause severe irritation and an allergic reaction.

Bedbugs can remain dormant for up to a year which increases their chance of survival and a repeat infestation, making dealing with an infestation a task that needs experience and the right skills and equipment.

Here at Manchester Pest Services we have huge experience dealing with bedbug outbreaks across the Manchester and Cheshire areas. Our technicians can usually begin applying the insecticide treatment within an hour of arrival, and the treatment will immediately start to reveal and kill the bedbugs. The treated areas should not be cleaned or vacuumed for 14 days after treatment to ensure maximum effect and our technicians can arrange a follow-up visit at this time to check on the progress of the treatment.

We are happy to treat domestic and commercial properties in Cheshire and infestations, particularly in commercial or multi-occupancy buildings, may require additional visits to control and fully eradicate all activity.

Contact Manchester Pest Services as soon as possible so that your bedbug problem can be removed quickly and efficiently.
